Description

This traditional favourite, named after a small island off the Scottish coast, has a distinctive globe shape with straw coloured skin and white flesh. The bulbs can grow very large and be used for exhibition, while their tolerance to cool weather while growing makes them very reliable.

Sowing Advice

For sowing seeds outside wait until the soil temperature is above 10 degrees C. Sow thinly in rows about 9" apart, just under the surface. Thin out when about 4 inches high leaving about 6" between the bulbs. Seeds can be also be grown indoors in trays and transplanted outside after the last frost.
