Comfrey is an important herb in organic gardening being used as a fertilizer and also for many purported medicinal uses. This marvelous herb is one of the best-known healing herbs of all times, well-known, and widely used by early Greeks and Romans, its very name, symphytum, from the Greek symphyo means to "make grow together", referring to its traditional use of healing fractures. Comfrey relieves pain and inflammation caused by injuries and degeneration, especially the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis whilst comfrey creams and oils can be used in arthritic pain relieving massages.
Sowing advice: SOW FINELY AND EVENLY, COVER THINLY WITH COMPOST OR GRIT. KEEP MOIST IN A COOL, COVERED LIGHT SPOT OUTSIDE. IMPORTANT: THE DESIRABLE PLANTS ARE THE PALE-LEAVED WEAKEST SEEDLINGS! OCCASIONALLY YOU MAY FIND STRONGER ONES WHICH WILL HAVE GREEN LEAVES AND PURPLE FLOWERS AND SHOULD BE DISCARDED.
