The flowers of this tender perennial shrub are extremely fragrant, even when they have finally dried out, when they keep their shape. The common name of "Yesterday-Today-and-Tomorrow" comes from the quick change in the flower colours, which open dark lavender-blue before fading to pale lavender then finally to white over several days. It is a species of evergreen shrub from tropical America which becomes semi-deciduous in cooler areas, and can grow to six feet or so in the open garden. It also makes an excellent and very fragrant pot plant.
Sowing advice: For best results, sow seeds in good light at any time onto a good soil-based compost. Cover the seeds with fine grit or compost to approximately their own depth. We recommend germinating at 15 to 20 degrees C. Seeds should ideally germinate in between 3 and 6 weeks although they make take considerably longer. Pot on seedlings before planting out in a well-drained spot in warmer countries or a large pot for the conservatory elsewhere.
