Description

Mid purple flowers with darker purple veins on the standards and on the falls, and which have a light yellow zone, open on long stems in spring, which form a larger clump each year. From western China, this is a close relative of Iris chrysographes, but differs from the latter in its flowers which are a paler bluish to violet.

Sowing Advice

Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination.
