Description

This rare and lovely palest buttermilk form of Iris pseudacorus, coming relatively true from seed, has sizeable cream flowers unlike the common blue form, the large pale petals being exquisitely marked and veined in purple. Although it can grow large in a damp or wet spot, or even in water at a pond edge, it does perfectly well in a dry garden.

Sowing Advice

Sow immediately at any time onto preferably a soil-based compost, covering with fine grit to approximately their own depth. Germination MAY be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. but many seeds WILL NOT come up the year they are sown, needing winter chilling after sowing, and ONLY come up with natural spring germination. A small % of seedlings may come up yellow and can be discarded on flowering.
