A plant that appeals to the gardener looking for something very different, this lovely hybrid was originally produced here in 1998 at Plant World, by crossing a large-flowered red nicotiana with a very slim-tubed wild species. It has since spread around the world. This unusual plant, of a most delicate form, produces abundant funnel-shaped dusky maroon-red flowers with pale green backs and blue pollen. The dusky rose petals face outward from long green trumpets for a unique colour combination.
For best results, seeds are sown directly into the ground where required in the spring. Alternatively, sow in late winter/early spring in gentle warmth, 15-20 degrees C. Prick out into small 3 inch or 7 cm. pots and plant in final position when the plants are established.
