These seeds, which have been stratified ready to sow, have been collected from Tupi, one of the very best cultivars sold for sweet snacking. They will produce thorny upright plants bearing really large, black, sweetest and most succulent luscious fruits quite late in the season. It is a hybrid of the Comanche and Uruguai varieties, and is well adapted to the southern half of the USA and warm places. Although the roots are frost hardy they do best in a warm sheltered position with lots of sun.
Sow seeds on a good compost and cover with 3 mm of grit. Do NOT use any artificial heat, but keep in a cool place when germination can be very slow, but please be patient! Plant out small plants when 6 inches high, preferably with support when they grow larger.
