With a simple, cheerful charm, these star-shaped flowers with eight quilled petals are lightly scented, a rare feature as very few dahlias are fragrant, and these attractive, bright red flowers bring a subtle presence to the late-summer border. Strong, sturdy stems support the blossoms above the plants, which look good in the front of the border alongside taller perennials, and no staking is required. These seeds have been collected from original stock plants, and seedlings will give some variation but all will be most attractive.

Sowing Advice

For best results, sow seeds in good light at any time onto a good soil-based compost. Cover the seeds with fine grit or compost to approximately their own depth. We recommend germinating at 15 to 20 degrees C. Seeds should ideally germinate in between 2 and 6 weeks although they make take considerably longer. Pot on seedlings before finally planting out into a container or a well-drained spot.
