Description
Alstroemeria 'Dandy Candy', commonly known as Dandy Candy Peruvian Lily, is a compact and colorful variety that produces vibrant clusters of pink and magenta blooms with contrasting yellow throats. Its long-lasting, trumpet-shaped flowers are perfect for brightening garden beds, borders, or containers, while also making excellent cut flowers for indoor arrangements. The plant’s lush, lance-shaped green foliage provides a beautiful backdrop to the profusion of blooms, which appear continuously from late spring to early autumn. Thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, fertile soils, Dandy Candy is a low-maintenance choice for creating bold, tropical-looking displays. Its robust growth habit and extended blooming season make it a favorite among gardeners seeking continuous color and drama in their outdoor spaces.
Sowing Advice
Sow in late winter or early spring. Stratify seeds by refrigerating them for 4–6 weeks before sowing. Plant seeds in a well-draining seed-starting mix, covering them lightly with soil. Maintain a temperature of 15–20°C (59–68°F) and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Germination may take several weeks. Once seedlings are robust, transplant them into individual pots and grow them on until outdoor conditions are suitable. Space plants 30–50 cm apart in a sunny or partially shaded location.
