Acacia Auriculiformis

A fast-growing tropical wattle from northern Australia, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, Acacia auriculiformis develops a broad evergreen crown of curved, leathery phyllodes marked by strong parallel veins. Golden flower spikes are followed by twisted, ear-shaped pods that expose glossy black seeds on bright orange funicles. Its nitrogen-fixing roots and tolerance of poor, saline or seasonally wet ground have made it valuable for restoring degraded land, while the dense wood is used for fuel, pulp and light construction.
