Acaena Inermis Purpurea

Acaena inermis ‘Purpurea’ forms a low, evergreen carpet of finely divided bronze-purple leaves, giving paths, gravel gardens and rockeries rich colour throughout the year. Tiny white pincushion flowers appear in summer, followed by compact red-brown fruiting heads that add further texture. Unlike many acaenas, this New Zealand selection is spineless, making it more suitable near paving and seating. The creeping stems root as they travel and tolerate light foot traffic, creating effective weed-suppressing ground cover where drainage is sharp.
