Acer Capillipes

The red snake-bark maple is a graceful Japanese tree prized in every season. Young green branches are striped with clean white lines, creating a striking winter pattern, while the three-lobed leaves emerge fresh green and develop vivid red and yellow autumn colour. Drooping clusters of small green flowers are followed by attractive pink-flushed winged fruits. Acer capillipes matures into a compact, upright specimen well suited to woodland edges and sheltered lawns, where its ornamental bark can be appreciated long after the foliage has fallen.
