Acis Autumnalis Var Pulchella

This delicate form of the autumn snowflake produces slender stems carrying small, nodding white bells, often delicately flushed pink, as summer gives way to autumn. Narrow grassy leaves appear with or soon after the flowers, allowing the plant to rise almost unexpectedly from dry, open ground. Native forms occur around the western Mediterranean, where the bulbs rest through the hottest part of the year and resume growth with cooler seasonal moisture. Its restrained scale is perfect for troughs, alpine houses and sheltered rock gardens where the minute flowers can be admired closely.
