Aconitum Affinis Vilmorianianum

A climbing monkshood allied to Aconitum vilmorinianum, this unusual perennial threads long, flexible stems through shrubs and supports rather than standing as a conventional border spike. Divided foliage creates a light texture, followed in late summer and autumn by hooded flowers in rich blue to violet-purple. Its scrambling habit makes it particularly effective when allowed to weave naturally through an open shrub or trellis in cool, moist soil. Like every aconite it is highly poisonous, so it should be handled with gloves and positioned away from children, pets and edible plants.
