Aethionema Armenum

Armenian stonecress is a compact evergreen alpine forming a low mound of narrow blue-green leaves above a short woody base. In spring, dense rounded heads of small four-petalled flowers open in soft to lively pink, giving the plant the appearance of a miniature candytuft. Native to the mountains of western Asia, it is naturally suited to exposed rock crevices and lean, stony soil. Its year-round foliage, neat scale and profuse bloom make it an excellent trough or wall plant, provided the roots remain sharply drained and the crown is protected from winter wet.
