Agapanthus Black Buddhist

One of the darkest African lilies, ‘Black Buddhist’ produces sturdy, purple-black stems topped by rounded umbels of deep violet-blue to near-black trumpets, each marked by an even darker central stripe. The deciduous clump of strap-shaped green leaves keeps the plant neat and compact, making it equally effective in a sunny border or a substantial container. Flowering in mid to late summer, it brings dramatic contrast to pale grasses and silver foliage, attracts visiting insects and also provides strong stems for cutting and architectural seed heads later in the season. From seed, variation is likely to occur.
