Albuca Tenuifolia

Albuca tenuifolia is a rare high-altitude South African bulb, rediscovered on rocky cliffs and scarp crests of the eastern Great Escarpment. Clusters of very fine, thread-like leaves surround short stems carrying three to five upright pale-yellow flowers, each marked by a broad green central stripe. Unlike many dry-country Cape bulbs, it naturally occupies moist, shallow, humus-rich soils among basalt and dolerite rocks, often in cool exposed or lightly shaded positions. Its delicate scale, unusual history and precise striped flowers make it a fascinating pot-grown collector’s plant.
