Allium Amethystinum 'Red Mohican'

‘Red Mohican’ is one of the most theatrical ornamental onions, carrying tall stems topped by wine-red, drumstick-shaped flower heads crowned with a jaunty tuft of elongated buds and contrasting pale florets. The unusual crest gives every head the appearance of a miniature topknot, creating a lively silhouette above borders and grasses. Flowering in late spring and early summer, it is rich in nectar, excellent for cutting and equally striking when dried. The strong stems and long-lasting seed heads extend its value well beyond bloom, while full sun intensifies the deep maroon colouring.
