Allium Seeds (68 varieties)
ViewThe peninsula onion is a colourful wild species from California and northern Baja California, producing slender stems topped by loose umbels of rich red-purple to magenta flowers. Each bloom has six pointed tepals, with the inner three often narrower and finely toothed, giving the head a crisp, sparkling texture. It inhabits valley grassland, foothill woodland and coastal chaparral, often emerging from rocky patches before the surrounding ground dries for summer. Compact and vivid, it is an excellent choice for a sunny trough or gravel garden, where a dry dormant season can be provided.
