Ammi Majus

Ammi majus produces clouds of finely divided foliage and broad, lace-like umbels of pure white flowers, creating the airy effect of cow parsley with the reliability of an annual garden plant. The branching stems are invaluable for softening formal borders and make an exceptional filler in bouquets, where each flat flower head adds structure without heaviness. Native around the Mediterranean, it thrives in sun and reasonably fertile soil, flowering for weeks when regularly cut. Bees, hoverflies and other beneficial insects crowd the open umbels, making it as useful in wildlife and kitchen gardens as it is in a cutting patch.
