Androsace Septentrionalis Stardust

'Stardust' is a charming northern rock jasmine that forms small evergreen tufts of lance-shaped leaves before sending up slender stems topped by open umbels of white, yellow-eyed flowers. At its peak the blooms appear like tiny constellations floating above the foliage, explaining the well-chosen cultivar name. This alpine is naturally short lived but often self-seeds freely when happy, renewing itself in gravel and stone crevices. It is ideal for a trough, scree or dry-stone wall, provided the soil is gritty yet retains a little summer moisture and the plant is spared excessive heat or stagnant winter wet.
