View'Blue Barlow' is a distinctive double columbine with tightly packed, spurless flowers in deep violet-blue, each bloom forming a many-pointed rosette or miniature pompon. The unusual form is named for the historic Barlow series, whose flowers replace the familiar long spurs with layered, narrow petals. Slender stems lift the rich blue heads above fresh, divided foliage in late spring, creating an old-fashioned yet graphic effect in cottage gardens and shaded borders. It is excellent for cutting and combines beautifully with pale roses, hardy geraniums and spring foliage, often self-seeding where happy.
