Aquilegia Vulgaris Bordeaux Barlow

'Bordeaux Barlow' brings sumptuous colour to the double-flowered Barlow group, producing spurless pompon blooms in wine red, burgundy and deep claret. Numerous narrow petals form pointed rosettes above finely divided green foliage, creating an intricate silhouette quite unlike a conventional columbine. The upright stems are valuable for cutting and mingle naturally with roses, astrantias and woodland perennials in late spring. Although richly coloured, the plant retains the light, informal habit of Aquilegia vulgaris and may seed itself into pleasing new positions, with seedlings sometimes showing subtle tonal variation.
