Arisaema Ciliatum Var Liubaense

Arisaema ciliatum var. liubaense is a richly coloured Chinese cobra lily with a glossy maroon to purple-brown spathe, strongly striped in cream or white and extended into a long, tapering hood. Above it unfolds an umbrella-like leaf divided into many narrow leaflets, giving the plant an exotic but elegant silhouette. This variety comes from the Liuba region of Sichuan and neighbouring mountain country, where it grows in cool, moist woodland. The dramatic flower is followed on mature plants by a spike of red berries. It makes a superb woodland specimen in deep humus, partial to full shade and shelter from hot drying winds.
