Beschorneria Septentrionalis

Beschorneria septentrionalis is a striking, thornless relative of the agaves, forming a broad evergreen clump of arching, strap-shaped green leaves. Mature rosettes produce an extraordinary candelabra-like flower stem, vividly coloured red and carrying green-tipped, fuchsia-pink tubular flowers from late spring into summer. Native to Mexico, it is among the hardiest members of the genus and gives an immediate exotic character to gravel gardens, courtyards and containers. The bold foliage remains attractive year-round when sheltered from hard frost and winter wet.
