‘Superba’ is a strong-growing clustered bellflower with dense heads of deep violet-blue bells gathered at the tips and upper leaf joints of sturdy stems. The concentrated flower clusters create blocks of intense colour in early and midsummer, while bees regularly visit the open mouths of the blooms. It forms a spreading clump and is excellent for cottage borders, naturalistic planting and cutting, provided it has room to develop. Hardy and reliable, it grows in sun or partial shade and responds well to deadheading, often producing a valuable second flush after the main stems are cut back.
