Centaurea Cyanus Pink

Centaurea cyanus ‘Pink’ brings a softer, more restrained colour to the familiar cornflower, with finely cut petals forming starry blooms in shades of blush and rose. The flowers sit lightly above narrow grey-green foliage, creating an airy, meadow-like effect that contrasts with the stronger blues more usually associated with the species. Native to Europe, Centaurea cyanus is a classic annual of open ground and cultivated fields, growing quickly and flowering freely through early and mid-summer. Plants branch naturally, producing successive blooms over a long period. Seed-raised plants show gentle variation in tone and form, contributing to an informal and natural appearance. Growth is upright but relaxed, with flowering strongest in full sun and on well-drained soil. Like other cornflowers, the species tolerates poorer ground and light disturbance, often reappearing where conditions suit.
