Native to upland and mountainous parts of Europe, including the UK, this attractive plant makes tall, unbranched stems bearing numerous blue-violet "dandelion" flowers. The stems This dwarf form of Cicerbita alpina, selected and maintained by Plant World, offers all the presence and colour of the classic alpine species in a more compact, garden-friendly size. Producing rich blue flowers on sturdy, upright stems, these seeds are ideal for borders, woodland edges and wildflower-style plantings where space is more limited.
Cicerbita alpina is native to the mountain regions of central and southern Europe, where it grows in moist alpine meadows and open woodland margins. The standard species is known for its height and bold character; this naturally compact form, discovered by our nurseryman here at Plant World, retains the dramatic blue blooms and handsome foliage while remaining notably shorter and easier to place in the garden.
Flowering through summer, the daisy-like blue heads are highly attractive to pollinators and rise above broad, softly textured leaves. Plants prefer consistently moist soil and perform well in sun or light shade, making them particularly useful for cooler gardens and northern aspects.
A distinctive and practical refinement of a much-loved alpine perennial, combining strong visual impact with improved garden versatility — one we believe to be unique to Plant World Seeds - few seeds available.
