Clematis Glaucophylla

White-leaved leatherflower is a vigorous perennial vine from the south-eastern United States, valued for blue-green foliage with pale, glaucous undersides and a long succession of nodding purple-pink bells. The thick, leathery flowers are held on slender stalks and recurve at the tips as they mature, revealing a soft yellow throat. Silvery, feathery seed heads mingle with new flowers from spring into autumn, extending the display. Growing by twining leaf stalks, it can be trained over a trellis or allowed to weave naturally through sturdy shrubs in moist, fertile soil.
