Clematis Integrifolia 'Hanajima'

‘Hanajima’ is a low, bushy Japanese clematis with non-climbing stems that lean gracefully through neighbouring plants rather than twining around them. From early summer into autumn it produces nodding bell-shaped flowers in clear rose to purplish pink, their narrow recurved tepals twisting outwards around a golden centre. Silky seed heads follow and remain attractive well beyond flowering. Compact enough for edging, containers and the front of a perennial border, it also makes a refined ground-cover companion beneath roses or open shrubs.
