Cleome Hassleriana 'Violet Queen'

‘Violet Queen’ is a statuesque spider flower carrying broad, airy clusters of rich violet-purple blooms above palmate green foliage and lightly spined stems. Each flower projects a fan of exceptionally long stamens, producing the exotic spider-like effect for which cleomes are prized, and narrow seed pods mingle attractively with continuing buds. Reaching impressive height in a single season, it creates a bold vertical accent among dahlias, cannas and grasses and supplies striking stems for arrangements. Warmth and full sun keep it flowering freely until autumn frost.
