Colchicum Baytopiorum

Baytop’s colchicum is a rare miniature from south-western Turkey, valued for its low autumn display of clear pink to lilac goblets. The flowers sit close to the ground and may open with or just before the narrow leaves, making a neat, concentrated show suited to an alpine house, trough or carefully chosen rock-garden pocket. Named in honour of the distinguished Turkish botanist Turhan Baytop, it is a plant of real collector interest. Cool-season moisture, a warm dry summer rest and excellent drainage are essential. Like every colchicum, it is dangerously poisonous if eaten.
