Consolida Ajacis

Annual larkspur is a classic cottage-garden flower, sending up slender branching spires crowded with delicate blue, violet, pink or white blooms above finely divided foliage. The upright stems bring height and rhythm to borders without the weight of perennial delphiniums and are outstanding for fresh or dried arrangements. Long cultivated around the Mediterranean and Europe, it has become closely associated with old-fashioned cutting gardens. Cool sowing conditions produce the strongest plants, and autumn-sown seedlings often flower earliest. All parts are toxic and must not be eaten.
