Corydalis Elata

Corydalis elata is a vigorous Chinese woodland perennial forming a substantial clump of finely divided, semi-evergreen foliage. From late spring into summer, upright stems carry dense racemes of fragrant deep blue flowers, each with a purple-flushed spur and a paler inner face. The intense colour is exceptional in shade and combines beautifully with ferns, hostas and pale woodland flowers. Unlike short-lived spring corydalis, this species can remain effective for months in cool soil. Humus-rich ground, steady moisture and shelter from hot sun allow it to develop into impressive ground cover.
