Cotoneaster Frigidus

Cotoneaster frigidus is a substantial Himalayan shrub or small tree with long arching branches, dark green leaves and broad clusters of small white flowers in early summer. The blossoms are highly attractive to bees and are followed by abundant red fruits that persist into winter, feeding blackbirds and other thrushes. Mature specimens develop a broad, layered crown and can serve as a wildlife-rich screen or specimen tree, while autumn foliage may turn warm yellow and orange. Hardy and adaptable, it flowers and fruits most freely in good light and reasonably drained soil.
