Crocosmia Masoniorum

Giant montbretia is a magnificent South African cormous perennial, producing broad fans of sword-shaped leaves and tall, branching stems crowded with vivid orange-red tubular flowers. The arching spikes open progressively from midsummer into autumn, creating a long, fiery display above the foliage and supplying excellent stems for cutting. Native to the Eastern Cape, Crocosmia masoniorum has greater stature and a more species-like elegance than many compact hybrids. It is superb at the back of a warm border or among grasses, where fertile soil and summer moisture support its impressive growth.
