Crocosmia X Crocosmiiflora 'Sunglow'

‘Sunglow’ is a compact montbretia with narrow mid-green leaves and elegant arching sprays of golden yellow-orange trumpets. The flowers are arranged in two orderly rows and face sideways along the stem, opening in succession from mid to late summer. Softer in colour than the familiar scarlet crocosmias, it blends easily with blue salvias, purple asters and ornamental grasses while still providing a warm late-season glow. The corms gradually form an expanding clump, and the flower stems are useful for cutting. Seed-raised plants may reveal attractive new variations.
