Cyclamen Alpinum

Cyclamen alpinum is a delightful miniature from south-western Turkey, distinguished by fragrant flowers whose reflexed petals twist outwards almost horizontally like the blades of a small propeller. Shades range from white and soft pink to deeper carmine, usually with a contrasting dark nose. Rounded leaves appear at flowering time and are often attractively marbled or washed with silver. Blooming in late winter and early spring, it is especially valuable under cool glass, where its unusual flower posture, compact scale and variable foliage can be appreciated at close range.
