Cyclamen Confusum

Cyclamen confusum is a scarce autumn-flowering species confined to north-western Crete. It resembles ivy-leaved cyclamen but has thicker, glossy, leathery foliage and generally larger, strongly scented pink flowers. The leaves often develop bold silver and green patterning and remain effective through winter after the blooms have faded. Recognised as a distinct species only in 2009, it has particular interest for cyclamen collectors. Naturally growing beneath pines and in rocky gorges, it tolerates summer dryness but benefits from protection against severe frost and excessive winter rain.
