Daphne Mezereum Dwarf Form

This dwarf form of mezereon offers the remarkable fragrance and early flowering of Daphne mezereum on a more compact shrub. Clusters of purple-pink blooms open closely along the bare branches in late winter, often scenting the surrounding garden before the leaves emerge. Bright red berries may follow during summer, contrasting with the soft grey-green foliage. Its modest size suits a small woodland border, rock garden or raised bed where the perfume can be enjoyed at close range. Slow growing and long lived when undisturbed, it requires cool roots, drainage and careful handling because all parts are toxic.
