Dianthus Uralensis

Ural pink is a hardy perennial from Russia and western Siberia, forming compact tufts of narrow blue-green leaves and short summer stems carrying clear pink to rosy-purple flowers. The five petals are lightly toothed and spread around a darker central eye, creating a bright display above the restrained foliage. Adapted to rocky slopes, steppe grassland and severe continental winters, it is exceptionally cold tolerant but demands drainage around the crown. Its neat scale, resilient nature and vivid flowers make it a valuable alpine for a sunny trough, scree bed or exposed rock garden.
