Disporum Longistylum

Disporum longistylum is a tall Chinese woodland perennial with elegant branching stems clothed in glossy, lance-shaped dark green leaves. In late spring and early summer, small clusters of tubular flowers hang beneath the foliage in greenish yellow, white or dusky purplish tones, their unusually long stamens and style projecting beyond the petals. Red-black berries follow later in the year. The upright yet arching habit gives height without heaviness and makes a fine backdrop for ferns, hostas and woodland bulbs in cool, humus-rich partial shade.
