Dyckia Fosteriana 'Silver Superstar'

'Silver Superstar' is an exceptionally silvery dyckia forming a flattened rosette of narrow, rigid leaves armed with pale teeth. The foliage has a metallic white to silver surface, often lightly flushed pink or lavender in strong light, and eventually sends up tall stems of vivid orange flowers. The plant originated as an unlabelled Dyckia fosteriana-type hybrid in the collection of bromeliad breeder Jim Prine and was later selected for its extraordinary colour. Slow growing but highly sculptural, it makes a superb pot specimen for a sunny greenhouse or sheltered summer patio.
