Dyckia 'Red Devil'

Dyckia 'Red Devil' is a striking bromeliad hybrid whose broad, heavily toothed leaves develop intense burgundy, copper and dark red colouring in strong sun. Mature rosettes remain low and architectural, then produce tall stems of orange flowers that contrast brilliantly with the dark foliage. The hybrid is associated with American breeder Jim Georgusis and is thought to involve D. platyphylla and D. leptostachya. Tough, drought tolerant and slow to outgrow its container, it is an excellent collector's plant for a sunny greenhouse, conservatory or summer patio, with protection from frost.
