Erodium Telavivense

Erodium telavivense is a rare annual stork's-bill named for Tel Aviv. A low rosette of finely divided foliage produces small pink to lilac flowers, often marked with darker veins, followed by the remarkable beaked fruits typical of the genus. As each fruit dries, its long awn twists and responds to changes in humidity, helping the seed drill itself into the ground. This ingenious dispersal mechanism is as interesting as the flowers. Compact and adapted to seasonal Mediterranean dryness, the plant is best displayed in a sunny trough or pot where its full life cycle can be observed closely.
