Eryngium Bourgatii

Like a shard of summer sky set in silver, Bourgat’s sea holly throws up tight cones of steel-blue flowers ringed by spiky, silver-laced bracts. The basal rosette—marbled with pale veining—stays neat, while the upright stems hold their colour and poise through heat and dry spells. In gravel, coastal, or Mediterranean-style plantings it brings an architectural glint and a steady hum of bees, and the heads dry beautifully for late-season arrangements without losing their cool, metallic sheen. A bone-hardy and fabulous plant.
