Erysimum Cheiri

Erysimum cheiri is a classic spring-flowering wallflower, producing dense heads of richly coloured, sweetly scented flowers that bring early colour and structure to borders, walls and containers. These seeds offer a traditional and reliable display, long valued in European gardens for both fragrance and impact. Native to the Mediterranean region, wallflowers naturally grow in rocky places and old masonry, thriving in free-draining soils and full sun. Plants form neat, bushy clumps of narrow evergreen foliage, followed in spring by masses of flowers in a wide range of warm tones. Seed-raised plants will vary in colour, creating a natural mix rather than uniform blocks. Best grown in full sun and well-drained soil, Erysimum cheiri performs particularly well in alkaline conditions and tolerates dry sites once established.
