Fessia Greilhuberi

Fessia greilhuberi is a rare bulbous species confined to northern Iran. Short stems rise between narrow green leaves in late winter or early spring, carrying small star-shaped flowers in clear blue to violet, each with darker central lines and prominent blue anthers. Formerly placed in Scilla, it has the refined scale and early season colour prized by specialist bulb growers. The plant follows a distinct cool-season rhythm, growing with winter and spring moisture before retreating underground for a dry summer rest. It is ideal for an alpine house or sheltered trough with sharp drainage.
