Freesia Laxa Orange

This orange-flowered form of Freesia laxa combines the species’ neat fan of narrow leaves with slender stems of brilliant warm orange, star-shaped blooms. Darker markings around the throat sharpen the colour and give each flower an almost jewel-like quality. The corms increase steadily and can form bright, informal colonies in a sheltered rock garden, gravel bed or container, flowering over a long period as fresh buds replace spent blooms. Native to seasonally dry parts of eastern and southern Africa, it appreciates warmth, sun, drainage and protection from severe frost.
