Fritillaria Amana

Fritillaria amana is a compact eastern Mediterranean bulb with grey-green leaves and nodding reddish-brown bells, each petal marked by a clear central green stripe. Native to southern Turkey and neighbouring parts of Syria and Lebanon, it grows on rocky mountain ground and brings a subdued, beautifully patterned colour to the spring bulb collection. The species is more vigorous than many dwarf fritillaries and can increase freely by small bulbils when content. It is ideal for a trough, bulb frame or sunny raised bed where winter growth is followed by a warm, dry summer rest.
